Western Responses to Human Rights Abuses in Cambodia, 1975-80 (St. Antony'S/Macmillan Series (St. Martin's Press).)

A Truly Amazing Work of Scholarship
I've never actually read this book, but I know the author and he is a really smart guy. Jamie's combination of on the ground research and his ability to simplify complex concepts for people less intelligent than himself make this book a must read for anyone interested in Western Responses to Human Rights Abuses in Cambodia. But don't take my word for it. Although I tend not to trust people who bear an uncanny resemblance to their non-identical siblings I have a tremendous amount of confidence in the other reviewers. Well done Jamie!!!

Fantastic book
The previous reviewer is a genius. What a fine analysis of a truly remarkable work of non-fiction.

this book is amazing
even though my brother is the author of this book, I feel I am an impartial reader. this is one of the finest books ever written in English.

Barefoot Brotherhood
A great book of memories for those of us who experienced the "Great Depression" and life in this great country during the patriotic years of World War 11. A soothing liteary style.

I was not there
I can not say that I have been there and done that! But I did enjoy the Authors story of his life. I was a small town and city boy. My parents and grandparents were there and did that and in my early life I was able to see "hog killings, soap making and other "old fashion" ways of doing day to day chores. The Author brought back sweeet memories for me. This book should be read by everyone over the age of 60 and raised in the rural South. It was VERY interesting.

Looking Back to See the Future...
This book gives vivid details about the author's life. It is filled with stories that will touch the heart and soul of all who read and absorb its content. It gave me a greater appreciation of life--past and present. Recipes from the past are included and are still outstanding today!

The Whole Tooth
Published in Paperback by Randall Morita Design (12 October, 1999)
Author: Martin T. Nweeia
Average review score:

A book to keep people smiling
This book is great. It makes things fun - with its Q&A style and entertaining graphics. I'm one of those squirming patients - you know the kind... the one that hates the sound of the drill and wants to leave the office even before I sit in a chair. I was looking for answers and preventive tips - I found them in this book. Dr. Nweeia writes in a straight forward (gentle) manner that everyone can understand. I recommend this book to everyone. I like it because it isn't trying to sell the reader on anything and is written for all kinds of patients -- even the squirming ones such as myself.

usefull for everyone
it is amazing to think we know so little about our own teeth! after all, they ARE crucial to our survival and appearance. who has not had a nightmare about their teeth? i certainly have had many. healthy teeth are like healthy bank accounts. after reading the book, i gained a better perspective on my teeth of today and of tomorrow.

i recomend it for all the families and individuals who wish to maintain good health and knowledge of their teeth.

Answers to all of your curious questions!
The Whole Tooth by Dr. Nweeia is an excellent resource for the consumer and professional! It answers many of the questions a person might have or be curious about when it comes to his or her teeth. It is especially great for families - since it covers dental issues that relate to both adults and children. Not only are the questions and answers easy for anyone to understand (they are answered in layman's terms) but each is accompanied by wonderful caricature or cartoon-like drawings.

The book is based on questions the author received as a dental columnist for a major newspaper. Who better to author a book of dental questions and answers than a dentist who sees patients everyday and heard from thousands of others in writing? Dr. Nweeia's credentials and the many impressive reviews of his work on and in the book speak for themself!

This book is something else! I am very impressed. Learning about my teeth and getting answers to the things I was curious about was easy and fun. I highly recommend this as a gift for a friend or for yourself!

Why Read the Classics?
Published in Hardcover by Pantheon Books (September, 1999)
Authors: Italo Calvino and Martin McLaughlin
Average review score:

Exceptional Anthology
An inspirational collection from an excellent essayist. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in literature.

A personal antology
The answer to the question sophisticatedly raised by this little anthology, is given in the essay which opens the collection. The basic reason lies in forming a personal scale of values that help you individualize the real artistic elements in new works. The second one is that reading increases the quality of living in usual and unusual situations, as well. But the quality of school anthologies and their presentations is still an open problem.

Calvino get you inloved with literature!!
What makes a book a clasic? Borges once said in a conference, that the fact that a whole generation lives with the idea of a book makes it a classic, Calvino involve you in that idea..

Wildlife Painting Basics: Wolves, Foxes, & Coyotes
Published in Paperback by North Light Books (October, 2001)
Author: Jan Martin McGuire
Average review score:

Great! Where's the sequel?
I really love this book. Unlike other 'how to draw' animal books, the artist shows the initial sketch and the finished painting. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning to draw Canids.

This book is not for beginners though. It definately assumes you know how to draw and does not instruct you in basic drawing technique. That being said, the book is designed to prep you for painting some of nature's most fantastic creatures... wolves.

My only quibble with this book, is that I would've like to see more sketches and 'turn around' style pictures of wolves sketched from various angles, and perhaps a sketch started at the beginning and progressing through to its finished stage. I learn a lot from drawing in this manner, and it is a challenge to draw the faces of wolves and place their ears correctly. (my dog is a poor substitute) GRIN.

This is a great book. I plan on looking up more books in this series!

Outstanding!
I counted 112 pages filled with 220 pictures, all in full color, including many wonderful, useful sketches of wolves, foxes and coyotes. There are 128 pages in the book and certainly more information than you could ever imagine. I am a wildlife painter and I too use acrylics and Ms. McGuire offered many tricks and tips that I had never seen but now use with a new excitement.
I believe that the book is very solidly packed. Chapters covering: Basics, Anatomy and Proportions, Pups, Attitude, Behavior and Movement,Natural Habitat, Painting a Pack of Wolves, Painting a Coyote, and Painting a Red Fox.
A few years back I had hoped to study from Jan Martin McGuire while she was in Joseph, Oregon but was unable to get there at that particular time. I realize, after reading and using this book, that I was SO right in desiring to study from her and this book will give me the chance. I have viewed her paintings and they are exciting and certainly something I want to study.
My students have also purchased this book and carry it to my classes.
If you are interested in learning more about Wildlife Painting and Wolves, Foxes and Coyotes, you can't go wrong in adding this book to you collecton of useful painting books.

I am the author
Hello! I am the artist/author of this book and I just wanted to say thank you for considering it. I would like you to know that I worked on the book for over a year, carefully researching and writing it and doing the demo's in such a way as I thought would be the most useful to you - the artist who would be reading and working from it. I have done many "mini" demo's in the book as well as completed works from beginning to end. I also include a lot on habitat such as painting snow, bark, moss etc. Hope you enjoy!

Great Book!
This book is great for not only kids but adults too. It is very creative and there is so much detailed art work done with colored pencils. It's a GREAT BOOK!!!!

Beautifully Illustrated
I love this book so much I bought a second copy so I could frame some of the pictures. Stepehn Gammell is a wonderfull artist..

An Illustration is Worth a 1,000 Words!
Will's Mammoth is a wonderful picture book, with a good story line. I have used this book to help children learn the writing process. In the current classroom (2nd grade)we are doing a unit on dinosaurs and I read Will's Mammoth to the children and then showed the illustrations. I had the children look close to the details of the illustrations and then they wrote discriptive sentences about the page of their choice. The students used their imagination to write their sentences and stories. You will be suprised at the outcome of any child's story within the Story of Will's Mammoth.

Windows 95 Answers! Certified Tech Support

As Tony the Tiger would say...This is GREAT ! ! !
I purchased this book in order to find something that would let me teach my students about Windows 95 so they could pass the A+ Certification that is now being issued. We are already using a couple of the books that you sell written by Mr. Gordon. Which we used for the old A+ exam. They were not written very well, but this book I believe has out done any other book I could have purchased for the school that I instruct at. Thank you very much for handling this book and sending it to me very quickly. Thank You Again.

A Must-Have Windows 95 Resource
I cannot get over how much is covered in this book. The layout and formatting grabs your attention without going cross-eyed. The design makes it so easy to troubleshoot and research. Its actually fun, really fun, to open it up and cruise through it. You'd be a complete fool not to include this book in your arsenal.

This book is superior to any I've seen as a Win95 reference.
This book in ~400 pages accomplishes 400 times more than what the Win95 Resource Kit does in ~1340. Far more complete in important information, more practical (less theoretical), more accessible, better written, this is the first and last Win95 reference anyone should need. It is probably also the ideal MCP/MCSE Win95 study guide. Does not replace a decent introduction to Win95, but supplements it.

Winning the Modern World for Islam

Abook of justice and spirituality
This book is among the best islamic and human books Ihave ever read.Indeed, one can not read and grasps the book without knowing its writer and his other titles.Mr ABD ESSALAM YASSINE,the great spiritual and political leader who has played a big role in clarifying the holy messages of QURAN and SUNNA. The book under study introduces ISLAM from its clear and pure origins. It talks about the strong relationship that exists between ISLAM and MODERNISM.Its writer wants to say that ISLAM is not against MODERNITY; Islam is against terrorism ,colonialism , sexual degradation , selfishness , opression in all its dimention...(islam is against EVIL be it human or satanic , individual or collective , organised or unorganised ).This book presents sanity , justice , brotherhood ,saintlove , peace...to both Muslims and none Muslims. We hope that people all over the world see and read this valuable book.

An excellent book for all humankind
It is worthy to read it and read it again. The ideas are clear with an excellent style of writing. The author is opening his heart to guide people who are seeking the right way.

The best book I've read these last two years...
I recommend all brothers and sisters to read this book. The ideas it brings are so important and so needed especially for Muslims in the north of America and Europe. For non Muslims, it gives them a very nice presentation of Islam and Muslims all around the world.

Wireless Internet Applications & Architecture
Published in Paperback by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (17 December, 2001)
Authors: Mark Beaulieu and Martin Cooper
Average review score:

Informative book
There is not one book as of today, that is as comprehensive as this one.

A good book to understand the evolution of wireless domain in terms of infrastructure, technology, devices and applications.

Very informative for any person wishing to understand the wireless world. Especially the first part, which deals with the evolution, providing technical details in an understandable format.

Sections on "How cell phones work?", "i-mode story" etc are very useful and informative.

The book is an ideal companion for sales and solution delivery personnel from the point of view of understanding concepts clearly.

Highly recommended for those who wish to dwell in the wireless domain or those who are already providing solutions in wireless space.

Delivers the Goods!
This timely and relevant book covers the topic of wireless architecture and application development in a through and well presented format. The content is very up to date and well explained.

When recommending books I always ask myself if I would give the text away in my TrainingCity.com classes. "Wireless Internet Applications and Architecture" by Mark Beaulieu passes that test with flying colors.

Although the book is targeted at product developers it would be an excellent addition to any telecom or IT profession faced with the task of understanding the current wireless infrastructure and state of emerging XML based wireless applications.

Clearly written by an expert

Wireless Internet overviews the various technologies and architectures of what is becoming a necessity for corporate technical staffs. It tells how to devise and implement wireless Internet applications and reveals the latest wireless hardware and software trends. It describes business products, standards, and applications, and explains issues involved in integrating wireless capabilities. It covers phone-based systems, PDAs, the wireless office and evaluates the current state of wireless communications.

To a layperson, this book serves as a good guide to learn the language of the wireless Internet and offers an initiation of the amazing applications that are enabled when wireless telecommunications and the Internet work together.

To an experienced engineer, this book gives an overview of the technology enablers and new standards such as WAP, BLUETOOTH and the road map for Global wireless data.

To an industry person, this book acts as a resource center for existing applications on the Wireless Internet. It provides an exhaustive list of existing applications created on the Wireless Internet.

Overall a very well researched book, it covers a lot of ground. Clearly written by an expert, I strongly recommend this book as a developer's guide and reference.

The World Before This One
Published in Hardcover by Arthur A. Levine (01 November, 2002)
Authors: Rafe Martin and Calvin Nicholls
Average review score:

A Moving and Mythic Read
In THE WORLD BEFORE THIS ONE a stone speaks, transporting the listening Seneca boy, Crow, and ourselves, to an older time; a world of myth and legend where integrity and nobility of action bring rewards. The stories Grandfather Stone tells Crow transform the listening boy, his people, and ultimately ourselves.

Rafe Martin, a gifted storyteller, posesses a rare ability to bring to life for adults and children alike the world of magic inherent in nature. THE WORLD BEFORE THIS ONE is partly a coming of age story, as Crow finds his true path as a tale teller and guardian of his people's wisdom. Martin's retelling of these Seneca legends reaches all of us to touch a deeper consciousness within, and imbues our present world with meaning.

Perfect for reading aloud
If you are looking for a book to read aloud to your children, you'll love this one. The imagery and folk lore are as interesting for the parent as for the children. Because many of the Native American legends and customs are the same as my children are learning in school, this book was a great way to have fun while reinforcing learning.

Good Book
This book is about a boy and his grandmother who have to move away from the village. He finds a rock that can tell stories. I like this book because it has different stories in it. I think it is part fantasy and part realistic fiction. I would recommend that other people should read it because it is good if you like realistic fiction or fantasy.
